Chase Elliott to Start at the Rear of Busch Clash Field With Unapproved Adjustments

While every car and team passed pre-race inspection before Tuesday night’s NASCAR Cup Series Busch Clash at the Daytona International Speedway Road Course, Chase Elliott — the 2020 NASCAR Cup Series champion — will still have to start in the rear. His team made an unapproved adjustment to his No. 9 Llumar Chevrolet Camaro.

Elliott was scheduled to start seventh in the 21-car field by way of the Monday night random starting position draw.

This will make it much more difficult to win the 35-lap exhibition event for sure, but Elliott has been the best road racer in the NASCAR Cup Series over the last couple of seasons.

Elliott has five career wins in point paying NASCAR Cup Series events, including the only ever NASCAR Cup Series event on the Daytona International Speedway Road Course, in just 12 starts.
