When the NASCAR Cup Series returns to Darlington Raceway for the track’s annual “Throwback Weekend” in May, 2020 Champion Chase Elliott will be paying tribute to another NASCAR Cup Series Champion whose legacy has lived on throughout the years.

Elliott’s No. 9 Chevrolet will pay tribute to Alan Kulwicki, by sporting a paint scheme replicating the No. 7 Ford Thunderbird that the owner-driver carried to the 1992 Winston Cup Series Championship.

Hooters – a backer of Kulwicki’s racing efforts in the late 80s and early 90s — will serve as the primary sponsor for Elliott’s Hendrick Motorsports Chevrolet at Darlington and will look to continue the legacy of Kulwicki, 28 years after his passing.
