BJ McLeod and MBM Motorsports will double-dip this weekend at Indianapolis Motor Speedway, partnering up to compete in both Saturday’s NASCAR Xfinity Series Pennzoil 250 and Sunday’s NASCAR Cup Series Brickyard 400.
The organization confirmed the double-duty attempt on Monday, with the announcement that McLeod will pilot the No. 66 Ford Mustang Dark Horse in Sunday’s 400-mile contest at the historic facility in Indianapolis, Indiana.
There was no sponsorship officially announced for the entry, but with Monday’s entry list only featuring 39 teams, McLeod and MBM Motorsports are guaranteed to take the green flag for their second NASCAR Cup Series start of 2024.
McLeod will have one of the busiest schedules of his NASCAR career, as both the NASCAR Cup Series and NASCAR Xfinity Series will have a 50-minute practice session on Friday, with both series having qualifying on Saturday.
For MBM Motorsports, the Xfinity Series effort will be the first since the organization elected to switch its primary number to No. 13, which the team announced in a June 26 press release outlining McLeod’s attempt in the entry.
Falling in Reverse, a popular post-hardcore rock band established in 2008 by vocalist Ronnie Radke, will serve as the primary sponsor for McLeod and MBM Motorsports for Saturday’s event.
With only 38 entries currently on the NASCAR Xfinity Series entry list for Saturday’s Pennzoil 250, McLeod would also lock into that field as well.
Sunday’s Brickyard 400 will mark the sixth NASCAR Cup Series start of the year for MBM Motorsports with the No. 66, and the team’s third attempt in the last four races, with three different drivers.
McLeod will be the first driver to pilot the MBM Motorsports entry in two points-paying events this season, after Timmy Hill (COTA), David Starr (Martinsville), Chad Finchum (Nashville), and Josh Bilicki (Chicag0) have each driven it once.
Last time out, Bilicki earned a season-high 28th-place result for the No. 66 at the Chicago Street Course.
In the Xfinity Series, MBM Motorsports has only successfully qualified for two events, at Texas Motor Speedway with Chad Finchum and Talladega Superspeedway with David Starr. Starr earned a season-high 24th-place run at the 2.66-mile superspeedway.
