Austin Dillon has qualified seventh and his Richard Childress Racing teammate Daniel Hemric has qualified 11th for Sunday’s Consumers Energy 400 at Michigan, however both will now start the race from the rear.

Both cars had their times disallowed after NASCAR found the cars were using alternators that were not fully functional.

No crew members will be ejected for the L1 infraction.

However L1 penalties usually carry a penalty of 10-40 points and/or a 1-3 week crew chief suspension and/or a $25,000-$75,000 fine.
