ATYL: Disqualification and Disappointment at The ROVAL

The ‘Wildcard Weekend’ lived up to its name.

As the final race in the ‘Round of 12’ for the NASCAR Cup Series and the NASCAR Xfinity Series, the stakes were high. With the 17-turn circuit reconfigured for the ROVAL race weekend, there were a lot of nerves heading into the race.

The weekend kicked off with the NASCAR Xfinity Series on Saturday. One of the most compelling races of the weekend ended in controversy with a late race caution halting the hopes of a Parker Kligerman win. With NASCAR raising the yellow flag mere seconds before the No. 48 Spiked Coolers Chevrolet reached the start/finish line, many are wondering what happened?

That leads to the Bank of America ROVAL 400 race on Sunday. When the checkered flag flew, Chase Briscoe, Daniel Suárez, Austin Cindric, and Joey Logano saw their playoff hopes crushed. That is until Alex Bowman’s No. 48 Ally Chevrolet was disqualified. Because of this, the Hendrick Motorsports driver lost his spot in the ‘Round of 8’, and Joey Logano finds himself in. However, there is much more to the story.

Join Taylor Kitchen in the latest episode of Above The Yellow Line to analyze all the action from the ROVAL and to discuss the disqualification.
