In a wild and weird pit road collision in Sunday’s Folds of Honor QuikTrip 500 at Atlanta Motor Speedway, Ryan Preece made contact with BJ McLeod sending the No. 52 car spinning on pit road.

The hit was hard enough to put Preece out of the race, but it had much worse effects on Preece’s teammate Chris Buescher.

Buescher’s No. 37 team had just finished up their pit stop as the accident was taking place. This meant the No. 37 pit crew was still working on getting back over the pit wall. Unfortunately as the 52 car was spinning, Buescher’s fueler Anthony Pasut was directly in harm’s way.

The 52 car made contact with Pasut which resulted in a broken fibula and torn ACL as well as other injuries to his right leg. This will sideline Pasut for an undetermined amount of time.

The No. 37 team which gets their pit crews from Hendrick Motorsports will announce a replacement for Pasut soon.
