3Friends Racing (3F Racing) has elected to postpone its debut in the NASCAR Cup Series until next season, team owner Dennis Hirtz tells TobyChristie.com.

The organization was originally scheduled to make its maiden appearance at NASCAR’s top level in Sunday’s Bank of America ROVAL 400 at Charlotte Motor Speedway’s ROVAL, before continuing to compete in the final four races of the year.

Instead, Hirtz tells TobyChristie.com that the team will defer its NCS debut to 2023, where it will have a larger selection of events to choose from, as the team embarks on a 10-race schedule.

“We will postpone our debut to the 2023 season having a bigger selection of races to choose from,” said Hirtz. “We are planning to run 10 races next season. Also, it allows us to have a higher payroll through more sponsorship. The remaining races we will host our partners and potential partners showing them around the NASCAR world.”

According to Hirtz, when 3F Racing elects to make its NASCAR Cup Series debut, the team will be receiving engines and technical support from Richard Childress Racing, as the team’s entry – branded with the No. 30 on their website – will also be operating out of Welcome, North Carolina.

In addition to the team’s 10-race campaign planned for the 2023 NASCAR Cup Series season, 3F Racing is hopeful that the organization will be able to expand even further in the following year, aiming to become a full-time Cup team by 2024.

3F Racing had yet to make an announcement regarding the organization’s drivers for the final five races of the 2022 NASCAR Cup Series season. However, Hirtz had earlier hinted that the team’s pilot for the Roval was a two-time 24 Hours of LeMans Winner.

As in most cases, whether or not 3F Racing is able to make it on-track in the NASCAR Cup Series will depend on the financial side of things, specifically, if the necessary sponsorship can be found to sustain a part-time effort at NASCAR’s top level.
