For many drivers across NASCAR’s National Series and the ARCA Menards Series, Talladega Superspeedway not only serves as a beacon of opportunity but also chaos.
The high-baked 2.66-mile superspeedway in Talladega, Alabama, not only provides opportunities for spectacular high-speed crashes, but also for underdog drivers to secure fantastic finishes, and give their sponsors some well-deserved time on national television.
“Talladega. That’s all you really need to say, and everyone knows that you mean,” Roulette told TobyChristie.com. “We are excited to be back on the track in the ARCA Menards Series as we take on Talladega Superspeedway in our Maples Motorsports No. 67 VFW, Save 22, Old Glory Bank Ford Mustang.”
Saturday’s ARCA Menards Series event at Talladega Superspeedway will mark the Minot, North Dakota-native’s second career start at the Alabama-based superspeedway, the first of which came last season for Fast Track Racing, and resulted in a 20th-place finish.
Roulette has been an active member of the ARCA Menards Series scene since 2022, competing on a part-time basis for Fast Track Racing, until this season, when the 39-year-old driver moved over for Maples Motorsports.
The season-opener at Daytona International Speedway marked Roulette’s second top-10 result in the ARCA Menards Series, and was one spot short of a career-best eighth-place finish at Salem in 2024.
“Last year, we learned a lot at Talladega, and this year we look to improve on those results. Although we had an adventurous start during the Ride The ‘Dente 200 at Daytona earlier this year, we were able to pull off a ninth-place finish. We found a few areas we could improve on the car and we look forward to bringing that same piece back to the track at Talladega.”
Roulette is also coming off of an exciting debut race in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series at Martinsville Speedway, where he piloted the No. 67 Freedom Racing Enterprises Chevrolet Silverado RST. After an afternoon filled with learning, Roulette was involved in a mid-race incident, and finished the day 35th.
This weekend at Talladega Superspeedway, Roulette will have a special guest from the VFW at the racetrack: Forrest J. Sheets.
Forrest enlisted in the Air Force after graduating high school in 1976 and worked as an Aerospace Ground Equipment Mechanic, where he deployed for Desert Shield, Desert Storm, Saudi Arabia, and various parts of Southeast Asia.
He retired as a TSgt from Eielson AFB, AK, in 1999 and is blessed with three childen (Russell, Melissa, and Michael) and six grandchildren (Whitley, Hadley, Brecken, Kaia, Nolan, and Cohen).
His youngest son was a member of the Montana Army National Guard and served two tours for Iraq Freedome. Today, Forrest is a member of the National VFW and a founding member of the American Legion Riders Group.
