After a few weeks off for the East Series to take the spotlight, the ARCA Menards Series returns to action at America’s Home for Racing at Charlotte Motor Speedway for the General Tire 150.
Friday’s race makes the 25th time the ARCA Series has visited the speedway in Concord, half an hour from uptown Charlotte. The series first visited the track back in 1964 when Curtis Turner took the checkered flag. ARCA wouldn’t return to the track until 1996, and it remained until 2004, then the series returned to the 1.5-mile oval in 2018.
Previous winners include Frank Kimmel, Adam Petty, Ryan Newman, Ty Majeski, Ty Gibbs, and last year’s winner Brandon Jones.
Heading into this weekend of racing, all the momentum sits behind the No. 20 Toyota for Venturini Motorsports and driver Jesse Love. The current ARCA Menards Series points leader is hoping to go three in a row after winning back-to-back races at Talladega and Kansas. This weekend will mark the first start at Charlotte Motor Speedway for the 18-year-old.
Love will be joined by VMS teammates Dean Thompson, Gus Dean, and Toni Breidinger.
Connor Mosack returns to ARCA and the No. 18 entry for Joe Gibbs Racing. He and the team are hoping to pick their first wins of the 2023 ARCA season.
TRICON Garage returns this weekend with driver Taylor Gray making his second start with the team. The team debuted with Gray back at Kansas Speedway with a third-place finish at the speedway.
After running the 2022 Season Finale at Toledo Speedway, 2015 ARCA champion, and Truck Series driver Grant Enfinger is hopping behind the wheel of the No. 97 Chevrolet.
Other notable drivers in the field include Frankie Muinz, who sits second in the points standings, Andres Perez De Lara, Daytona Winner Greg Van Alst, Cody Coughlin making his second start of the 2023 season, Tony Cosentino who still sits in the top 10 in points, Caleb Costner who returns to the track in the no. 93, and Stephanie Moyer who is making her Charlotte debut.
