Garett Mitchell, better known as Cleetus McFarland, is returning to Rette Jones Racing in the ARCA Menards Series race at Talladega Superspeedway on April 26.
Mitchell had officially confirmed on Dale Earnhardt Jr’s podcast, “The Dale Jr. Download” that he will be back in the same No. 30 Ford Mustang for Rette Jones Racing with sponsorship from energy drink brand Kenetik.
The Omaha, Nebraska native made his ARCA Menards Series debut on Saturday, February 15 in the season-opening Ride The ‘Dente 200 at Daytona International Speedway where he would finish 30th after getting collected in a crash in between turns 1 and 2 after the No. 70 Nitro Motorsports Toyota of Amber Balcaen cut a tire midway through the corner, causing her car to slide up into the path of Mitchell, ending both of their days after just turning 17 laps.
The 29-year-old had co-owner Mark Rette serving as crew chief, Kevin Hamlin, former NASCAR Xfinity Series driver and now full-time spotter who currently serves as Alex Bowman’s spotter in the NASCAR Cup Series, and 21-time Cup Series winner Greg Biffle as his driver mentor.
The YouTube sensation has been lighting up the NASCAR world on social media the past week with his amazing post-race interview with FOX reporter, Kaitlyn Vincie, quoting “rippin’ around Daytona like a bald eagle,” giving his best impersonation of a NASCAR driver.
“We’re good for ‘Dega,” said Mitchell enthusiastically in an interview on the Dale Jr. Download. “We’re going to be building some content around it for the YouTube channel that will cover it.”
Mitchell had also confirmed on several occasions following a trip to the infield care center in Saturday’s race that he would be returning at Talladega. Currently, the Rette Jones Racing team has yet to make any official announcements of its own in regard to Mitchell’s return at Talladega.
The General Tire 200 at Talladega Superspeedway will air live on FS1 at 12:30 pm EST on Saturday, April 26.
