ORIGINAL STORY:

After a devastating loss in the final laps of the 2021 ARCA Menards Series West season-finale at Phoenix Raceway, runner-up points finisher Jake Drew will return to the series for a second consecutive season.

However, in 2022, Drew will be piloting the No. 6 Sunrise Ford Racing Ford Fusion, replacing Trevor Huddleston, who according to Casey Campbell, will not be returning to the organization.

“I’m going to be in the No. 6 car with Bill Sedgwick as crew chief,” Drew said in an interview with Casey Campbell. “Super excited to work with Bill this year, I’ve gotten to hang around him a little bit in the shop, as I’m still working in the shop.

“I’m looking to see how much we can really gain, just being that much closer to each other, having those days during the week, and maybe being able to debrief a little more. Back to last year, Jeff [Schrader] did an amazing job teaching me so much, the whole Sunrise Ford team taught me so much, and it was really a huge help in the success we had.”

As far as the business dealings with Sunrise Ford Racing are concerned, Drew says that he stays out of that side of things, and lets the team handle that while focusing on his job, winning the ARCA West championship.

The Fullerton, California-native embarked on his first full-season campaign in the ARCA Menards Series West in 2021, recording four top-five and seven top-10 results, while starting on the pole three times.

Drew was on track to capture his first victory at Portland before a late-race restart created chaos that sent multiple drivers outside of track limits, including Drew, who was sent to the tail-end of the lead lap, despite crossing the line first.
