After a day of beating, bashing, rough racing, and a black flag, William Sawalich was able to come out on top after not being the first car to cross the finish line. Sawalich took the win after the 28 machine of Connor Mosack was black-flagged for jumping the restart.

“Well, they were telling me when I was battling the 20 that the 28 had a black flag, so, I knew it was just me and him. Again, I wish we could have raced it out, it would have been a lot of fun,” Sawalich said post-race in victory lane. Marking his second road course win of the season after winning out west in Portland.

“This team never give up, and it always shows. We had a really fast Starkey Sound Gear Toyota Camry. I really wish I could have battled it out with the [Gio Ruggiero] there. To be honest, I missed a shift on the backstretch and that’s why it looked like I brake-checked him. And then I hit the wall on the burnout. Never done that before, so that’s a first. Really good job for these guys, I can’t thank them enough,” the Eden Prarie, MN native added.

Pole sitter Mosack officially came home in 13th after the penalty.

Brent Crews looked to be the one to dominate, leading the most laps, but came up short in second after leading a good chunk. Venturini Motorsports teammate Gio Ruggiero was able to rebound after some tough contact and battles for third. Thomas Annuziata and Marco Andretti rounded out the rest of the top five. Points leader Andres Perez managed a sixth place on the day.

In his ARCA Menards Series debut, IndyCar veteran Conor Daly had some eventful moments but managed an eight-place finish after it all.

Another great run came for Brad Perez, coming home ninth. “Everything went exactly as it should,” he told TobyChristie.com.

Several drivers faced issues early on. Chris Golden stalled on track on the first lap, only to go behind the wall shortly after. A tough break also came for ARCA Menards Series veteran and road course ringer Dale Quarterley. He was as high as fourth, but a mechanical issue knocked him out early and relegated him to a 23rd place finish.

Up next, the ARCA Menards Series travels up to Michigan, for Berlin Raceway on June 29th.
