Daniel Dye, the second-place driver in the 2022 ARCA Menards Series championship standings, was arrested on felony battery charges by the Daytona Beach Police Department on Tuesday.

UPDATE #2: Wednesday, April 27, 2022 at 5:48 PM ET:

The ARCA Menards Series has made it official that Daniel Dye, the second-place driver in the championship standings, has been suspended by the sanctioning body for violating rulebook section 12-8.1.E.2, which references ARCA Member conduct guidelines.

Dye’s race team — GMS Racing — has issued a statement on the matter as well:

“GMS Racing is aware of the current situation surrounding Daniel Dye. Daniel and the Dye family are cooperating with local law enforcement. No further comment will be made on the subject until more information becomes available.”

Daniel Dye Indefinitely Suspended by ARCA After Tuesday ‘Felony Battery’ Arrest


UPDATE #1: Wednesday, April 27, 2022 at 3:36 PM ET:

TobyChristie.com has obtained a Daytona Beach Police Department police report, which confirms that Daniel Dye was arrested following an incident at Father Lopez Catholic High School in Daytona Beach, Florida on April 26th at approximately 2:50 PM ET.

According to the police report, after being told to stop dancing and grinding next to another student in the classroom, Dye allegedly, “punched [a classmate] in the groin area.”

The report goes on to state that the classmate could have suffered a ruptured testicle in the altercation, but has been referred to a urologist for further evaluation.

The contents of the police report were first reported by Frontstretch.com.

As of this time, representatives for GMS Racing, Dye’s ARCA Menards Series team and the ARCA Menards Series have yet to respond to attempts to obtain a statement.


ORIGINAL STORY: Wednesday, April 27, 2022 at 1:30 PM ET:

Daniel Dye, a championship contender in the ARCA Menards Series, has been arrested and booked in Volusia County, Florida on charges of ‘Felony Battery’, according to Volusia County Clerk of Circuit Court records.

The 18-year-old was booked and charged on Tuesday, April 26th at 5:00 PM and released at 8:44 PM the same evening, on a bond of $2,500.

According to HusseinandWebber.com, a defendant may be sentenced to up to five years in prison or five years of probation and may be assessed fines of up to $5,000 for these charges in the state of Florida.

Dye’s first appearance in court, in relation to this case, was set for 1:30 PM on Wednesday, but that court appearance was canceled per the Volusia County Clerk of Circuit Court records.

After the third event of the 2022 ARCA Menards Series season, the Leland, Florida-native currently sits second place in series point standings, only one point behind points leader Rajah Caruth.

TobyChristie.com has reached out to spokespeople from the ARCA Menards Series and GMS Racing, the team for which Dye competes, but have yet to receive a response.
