We’re just a few days away from kicking off the 2023 ARCA Menards Series West season at Phoenix Raceway. As we get closer to the green flag dropping, we’re starting to learn which drivers and teams we’ll be seeing on track for the 2023 season.
On Tuesday, Nascimento Motorsports announced it has plans to run two full-time cars in the ARCA West Series. Brothers Ethan (15) and Eric “Bubba” Nascimento (21) will split the driving duties.
Ethan will make his ARCA Menards West Series debut after winning four races and the 2022 51FIFTY Jr. Late Model Series championship at Madera Speedway. “I’m excited to go ARCA racing with my brother and my family,” Ethan Nascimento said. I’m pumped to work with crew chiefs Ty Joiner and Mike Nascimento. My goals are to hopefully get some top-fives and top-tens. Irwindale helped prepare me for bigger tracks such as Phoenix this weekend.”
Older Brother Eric is also a former driver in the Jr. Late Model Ranks with wins in the Stockton Late Models and the Madera Pro Late Models. “This is the car we ran last year at Phoenix and it had good speed,” Eric Nascimento said. “We rebuilt everything on the car and have been digging in the shop, four to five hours a day. Phoenix is an opportunity to showcase our talents and show that we are meant to be there.”
The no. 4 Toyota shared several drivers during the 2022 season including Sean Hingorani, Sebastian Arias, and Eric himself. In his two races last season, the Manteca, CA driver had a best finish of seventh at Sonoma.
The 2023 ARCA Menards Series West campaign opens this Friday at Phoenix Raceway in a combination event with the ARCA Menards Series. Racing action will be televised live on FS2 at 5 p.m. Pacific and 8 p.m. Eastern.
