Daniel Suárez is off to a fast start in his first NASCAR Brasil Series race weekend as he paced opening practice on Friday at Autodromo De Interlagos.

Piloting the No. 91 Chevrolet, Suárez turned a fast lap of 1:51.950 in the session, which was 0.230 sec. faster than NASCAR Brasil Series Rookie Contender Luan Lopes, who drives the No. 99 entry.

Fellow Rookie Contender Victor Andrade ranked third in the session, and he was joined by Jorge Martelli and the No. 63 car, which was shared in the session by Luis Trombini and Z. Muggiati, inside the top-five fastest of the opening practice for the race weekend.

Suárez, a full-time NASCAR Cup Series racer for Trackhouse Racing chose to remain in Brazil following his wedding to longtime girlfriend Julia Piquet on Tuesday, July 30. Suárez wanted to check off an item on his bucket list by competing at the legendary Interlagos circuit.

If Friday’s practice is any indication, Suárez may just have a legitimate shot at taking the win in his debut at the 2.677-mile 15-turn road course in São Paulo, Brazil.

The official NASCAR Brasil Series race at Interlagos will take place on Sunday, August 4, and will serve as the fifth round of the eight-race 2024 NASCAR Brasil Series season.
