Colton Herta made his presence known after putting down the fastest lap of the weekend to lead second practice for the Honda Indy Toronto.
The 22-year-old Californian rocketed to the top of the leaderboard with a flying lap at 1m00.0471s (107.076 mph) around the tight 11-turn, 1.786-mile Exhibition Place street circuit.
Directly behind the No. 26 Andretti Autosport Honda was championship leader Marcus Ericsson, who trailed by 0.1611s in the No. 8 Chip Ganassi Racing Honda.
The Team Penske duo of Will Power and Scott McLaughlin ended up third and fourth, respectively. NTT IndyCar Series rookie Christian Lundgaard, driving the No. 30 Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing Honda, was fifth.
Scott Dixon and Graham Rahal were sixth and seventh, ahead of rookie David Malukas in eighth. Arrow McLaren SP’s Felix Rosenqvist finished ninth, with Andretti Autosport’s Alexander Rossi, who led opening practice on Friday afternoon, was 10th.
Team Penske’s Josef Newgarden, a two-time winner in Toronto, wasn’t able to get much running in after a mechanical issue sidelined the effort with 37 minutes remaining.

Moments after Newgarden called it an early end to the session, reigning IndyCar champion Alex Palou suffered a problem of his own. Palou was navigating the tricky street circuit when his No. 10 Chip Ganassi Racing Honda clipped the inside wall of Turn 2, before bouncing into the outside wall, suffering suspension damage and breaking the front wing. He ended up 23rd.

Romain Grosjean brought out the first red flag of the session after smacking the wall with the right rear in Turn 11, causing significant damage to the suspension of his No. 28 Andretti Autosport Honda.
The second red flag waved in the final minute of the session after Takuma Sato found the wall with the left side of his No. 51 Dale Coyne Racing with Rick Ware Racing Honda in Turn 6.
