TobyChristie.com has partnered with esports driver Cayden Rush to put a sponsored car on track for the upcoming California Clash.
The event is being held in celebration of the 30th anniversary of the iconic film Days of Thunder.
The race will feature current, former, and eNASCAR drivers including Bobby Labonte, Anthony Alfredo, and Ray Alfalla.
In celebration of the era and the event, TobyChristie.com will adorn a paint scheme that throwbacks to Ricky Rudd and his days in the Quaker State colors.
Toby Christie, founder and editor-in-chief of the website, expressed excitement for the event and the partnership.
“When the opportunity came to sponsor Cayden for this event, it was a no brainer decision,” Christie said. “Cayden is a great eRacer and with me always being a fan of Days of Thunder, this race was a fun concept for me. I hope to see the old Ricky Rudd colors in victory lane!”
Rush, an up-and-coming esports driver, placed second in his heat race on Thursday night.
“I’m really happy to be partnered with TobyChristie.com,” Cayden said.” It’s been really fun putting this all together, it’s such a great event and it feels good having people behind you supporting you. All in all I think my our goal is to race for win. I think we have a really good shot, we’ve been comparable to a lot of guys speed wise. Its gonna be a really exciting race with a stacked field of some of the best drivers on IRacing.”
The broadcast booth will follow a similar style of the field – bringing up-and-coming talent, veteran and legendary voices to call the action. Justin Prince, MRN’s Alex Hayden, and Bob Jenkins will call the race. Jenkins has recently gotten himself back involved with calling races, including the popular Monday Night Racing Series.
Eric Estepp, most known for his “Out Of The Groove” YouTube Series, will host the event on his channel.
The race is set to go green September 23rd at 9pm EST.
