It started on the first lap of the event, when Thad Moffitt and Drew Dollar made contact with the wall in turn three. However, it ended on lap 23, as Moffitt – driving the No. 46 for David Gilliland Racing — entered turn four under the Sunbelt Rentals Toyota, making contact with Dollar, sending him into the path of Tim Richmond, who made hard contact with the driver’s side door of the No. 15.

The impact was a nasty one, but both drivers were able to exit the car under their own power.

Both Drew Dollar and Tim Richmond would retire from the event as a result of the accident, while Thad Moffitt would return to the race track two laps down in 15th-place.

  1. Thad Moffitt broke a driver up and his car on purpose. ARCA needs to take a stand. He’s no driver- he’s a classless punk! He’s no Petty- fell far from that tree

  2. I’m a Thad Maffitt fan, but this has to stop. They aren’t playing a video game and when innocent drivers are collected, it’s gone too far.

  3. That Moffitt was very obviously hit on purpose during the first lap. Not to mention his equipment was tampered with after the race. He is an upstanding young man and deserves better than this. Please get your article straight. It was not “contact” on the first lap- Moffitt was driven up into the wall on purpose.
