Ty Gibbs dominated Saturday night’s Busch Light Clash at the LA Memorial Coliseum, but ultimately left the night empty-handed after he was rooted out of the way on a late-race restart, and spun following contact with Kyle Larson. However, not collecting the trophy wasn’t the only problem for Gibbs on Saturday night.
The 21-year-old racer raised the ire of two-time NASCAR Cup Series champion Joey Logano.
After the race, Gibbs climbed from his No. 54 Monster Energy Toyota Camry and was heading toward his hauler when Logano approached him, and the two engaged in an intense discussion.
What Logano was frustrated about was an incident with Gibbs on a restart with 10 laps remaining.
Gibbs restarted from the lead, while Logano restarted from the second position on the outside lane. Gibbs went wide and collected Logano, which caused Logano to lose his momentum and Logano fell into a hornet’s nest for fourth position.
In a video shared by Michael Massie of Frontstretch, you can hear Gibbs defending his move with 10 laps to go as he tells Logano, “You hit me in the same way,” to which Logano responds with, “I didn’t put you in the wall, dude. I slid up a little bit. I remember it. You, just like all of the other guys, I remember it.”

What it appeared that Gibbs was referring to, when he said that Logano hit him the same way was a slight incident between the two drivers on a restart with two laps to go. In that on-track disagreement, Gibbs was stuck on the outside lane. As Logano attempted to scoot by on the low side for the fourth position, it appeared that Logano slid wide a little bit, which caused Gibbs to scrape the outside wall with his No. 54 Toyota Camry.
Moments later, Gibbs was spun after slight contact from Kyle Larson.

In fairness, there may not have even been any contact between Logano and Gibbs in that second skirmish.
Gibbs then jabbed back with “I’ve watched this my whole life. It’s the same thing, all the time,” to which Logano countered with, “Keep watching.”
The 2023 NASCAR Cup Series Rookie of the Year, has seemingly picked up a very unideal enemy heading into the 2024 season as Logano is as fierce of a competitor as any in the NASCAR Cup Series garage.
