Rackley WAR has selected Trevor Bayne, the 2011 champion of the Daytona 500, to drive the No. 25 Chevrolet Silverado in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series event at Homestead-Miami Speedway on October 21st.

Bayne, a native of Knoxville, Tennessee, has amassed more than 350 starts across NASCAR’s National Series throughout his career, spending the last two seasons competing part-time in the NASCAR Xfnity Series for Joe Gibbs Racing.

“I definitely didn’t see this coming two weeks ago. This deal came together rather quickly,” said Trevor Bayne. “Willie Allen and Curtis Sutton have been working hard over the past few years to improve their truck program. The results have shown all season with their consistent top-10 runs.”

The 32-year-old driver has eight starts in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series to his credit, having competed for Niece Motorsports during the second half of the 2020 season. In that time, Bayne notched a career-best second-place run at Talladega.

“I look forward to working together with crew chief Chad Kendrick and the Rackley WAR team and produce a strong run this weekend,” Bayne continued. “Homestead-Miami has always been good to me, including last season when we were on pole and ran sixth in the Xfinity race. I’m thankful to the group for the opportunity to be back behind the wheel.”

This season, the organization’s third competing full-time in the NASCAR Truck Series, Rackely WAR has had a breakout year, which has allowed the No. 25 Chevrolet to produce three top-five and 13 top-10 finishes, between drivers Matt DiBenedetto and Chandler Smith.

“The team is definitely looking forward to our partnership with Trevor [Bayne] for Homestead-Miami,” said Willie Allen, president of Rackley WAR. “Trevor brings a lot of very good experience to the table, and he will be a good measuring stick to help evaluate some of the things we are working on moving forward.”

Chandler Smith piloted the No. 25 Chevrolet Silverado in the series’ latest event at Talladega Superspeedway after it was announced Matt DiBenedetto had been released from the team early. The team’s driver for the season-finale at Phoenix will be announced at a later date.
