Mike Rockenfeller, a highly-regarded road racer across the globe, will once again partner with LEGACY MOTOR CLUB to compete in the NASCAR Cup Series, returning to the seat of the No. 42 Chevrolet at Charlotte Motor Speedway’s ROVAL.

The organization made the official announcement on Friday, via a social media post:

A two-time winner of the 24 Hours of Le Mans, Rockenfeller will contest his third start of the year at NASCAR’s top-level, and his second-ever start at the 2.280-mile purpose-built road course in Charlotte, North Carolina.

Earlier in the year, after Noah Gragson was suspended by both NASCAR and LEGACY MOTOR CLUB, Rockenfeller was tapped to serve as the interim driver of the No. 42 Chevrolet Camaro in back-to-back events at Indianapolis Motor Speedway’s Road Course and Watkins Glen International.

In his first start at the Indy Road Course, Rockenfeller came home with a respectable 24th-place result, which at the time was his career-high finish – after a 29th and 30th in a pair of races for Spire Motorsports in the back-half of 2022.

The following weekend at Watkins Glen, Rockenfeller again bested his career-high finish at NASCAR’s top-level, picking up a top-20 result for LEGACY MOTOR CLUB in 19th, which at the time was just the third for the No. 42.

Notably, Rockenfeller competed alongside LEGACY MOTOR CLUB co-owner Jimmie Johnson, and Formula 1 World Drivers Champion Jenson Button in the 24 Hours of Le Mans, where the trio competed in the Garage 56 program, in collaboration with NASCAR, Hendrick Motorsports, and Chevrolet.
