Joey Logano is out of Saturday’s Bass Pro Shops Night Race at Bristol Motor Speedway, after a multi-car accident to start the final stage, leaving the defending champion to finish 34th.

The defending NASCAR Cup Series champion, Joey Logano, may be in a dire situation when it comes to the NASCAR Playoffs, after obliterating his No. 22 Ford Mustang in a crash at the start of the race’s final stage.

However, Logano wasn’t the cause of the incident, but rather an innocent bystander, as Corey LaJoie broke loose at the exit of the second corner, spinning down the backstretch and hitting the inside wall.

LaJoie would then slide his No. 7 Chevrolet back up the racetrack, into the path of several drivers running at the back of the field, including Logano, Justin Haley, and Ryan Newman, all of whom sustained major damage to their vehicles.

The Team Penske driver got hit with enough force to mangle the rear suspension on his Shell-Pennzoil Mustang, forcing the team to take the car to the garage, therefore eliminating them from the Bass Pro Shops Night Race, via the DVP rule.
