Sammy Smith, Justin Allgaier, and Brandon Jones were involved in a multi-car accident at the mid-way point of Saturday’s Kansas Lottery 200.

What was looking like a strong run for Sammy Smith, has come to a crashing halt, after an accident at the mid-way point of Saturday’s NASCAR Xfinity Series event at Kansas Speedway.

Smith, driving the No. 18 Toyota, was battling for a position inside the top five when Sheldon Creed came up the track and made contact, which, coupled with contact from Josh Berry, sent the Joe Gibbs Racing driver into the outside wall hard.

Justin Allgaier, the race’s polesitter, was running on the outside of Smith when he spun up the track and was collected in the incident, as well, which heavily damaged the No. 7 Chevrolet for JR Motorsports.

Brandon Jones, teammate to Allgaier and Berry, was also involved in the incident, and as a result, was put into another deficit – the second of the race, after spinning around prior to the end of the race’s second stage.

The severe damage to the No. 18 forced Smith to retire from the event. However, Allgaier was able to return to the track and attempt to complete the race, albeit maybe laps down.
