Brodie Kostecki will travel to the United States in August to compete in the NASCAR Cup Series event at Indianapolis Motor Speedway’s Road Course, the driver officially announced via social media on Monday.

The 25-year-old driver, who currently sits second-place in Australian Supercars point standings, will join forces with Richard Childress Racing, piloting the No. 33 MobileX Chevrolet Camaro, a third entry for the organization.

“I am thrilled to be making my NASCAR Cup debut at the Brickyard,” said Kostecki in a press release by Supercars. “It’s an honor to compete at such an iconic venue and against some of the biggest names in motorsport. I’m incredibly grateful to RCR for giving me this opportunity and I’m determined to make the most of it.”

On July 12th, AUTO ACTION reported that Kostecki was bound to make his NASCAR Cup Series debut at Indianapolis, but at that time, failed to mention the organization in which he’d be competing for.

“Racing is at the core of everything I do, and NASCAR has been a lifelong goal of mine after spending years growing up in the sport’s heartland in North Carolina,” Kostecki continued. “It’s a whole different world over there and any additional time I can spend racing is only going to help me try and win my first Supercars Championship. We got some great exposure to the inner sanctum of the team during our recent trip, and I cannot wait to immerse myself in the team, this time as a Cup Series driver.”

Kostecki’s official announcement comes just two weeks after Shane Van Gisbergen scored the victory in the inaugural Chicago Street Course event, driving for Trackhouse Racing’s PROJECT91 program.
