Video: Andre Castro SLAMS Tire Barrier in First Corner; Out of Inaugural Xfinity Chicago Street Race

Andre Castro is out of Saturday’s The Loop 121 at the Chicago Street Course, after crashing hard in the first corner.

Andre Castro, making his NASCAR Xfinity Series debut for Jesse Iwuji Motorsports, will finish 37th in Saturday’s The Loop 121 at the Chicago Street Course, after a heavy crash in the first corner.

Castro, driving the No. 34 Chevrolet Camaro, appeared to have a mechanical issue entering the first corner of the race, sending his University of Chicago Medicine-sponsored machine viciously into the tire barriers in Turn 1.

The 24-year-old driver smacked the wall incredibly hard, causing insane damage to his entry, and requiring him and his team to retire from the race, netting him a finish of 37th place.

Chris Weaver caught a video of Castro slamming into the turn one barrier. In the video, you can hear the sound of the No. 34 sliding into the corner at full speed, and eventually hitting the tire barriers hard.

Castro was able to climb from the car under his own power.
