While celebrating in victory lane Sunday at Kansas, Denny Hamlin had no idea there was a fight between Ross Chastain and Noah Gragson, which he learned upon entering the Media Center for his post-race press conference.

Over the last year, one of the biggest stories in the NASCAR Cup Series has been the so-called rivalry between Denny Hamlin and Ross Chastain, which has carried over throughout several races and incidents.

Even though that ‘rivalry’ seems to have dissipated in recent weeks, after coming to a boiling point at Phoenix Raceway, the events of Sunday at Kansas Speedway may still pique the interest of the Joe Gibbs Racing driver.

After winning the race, Hamlin found himself celebrating in victory lane, while a confrontation broke out on pit road between Chastain and Noah Gragson, which resulted in the Trackhouse Racing driver delivering a clean punch to the face of the Cup Series rookie.

So naturally, when Hamlin came to the Media Center for his post-race winner’s press conference, there was some angst to show him the results of the altercation on pit road.

Bob Pockrass for FOX Sports showed Hamlin the video, to which the Joe Gibbs Racing driver observed quietly, before saying afterward “he told him to stop”, to a round of laughter from those in the media center.
