Kyle Larson has sustained major damage to his No. 5 Chevrolet Camaro after an accident in the first corner, which started when Ross Chastain punted Brennan Poole entering the first corner.

It’s been an interesting start to Monday’s NASCAR Cup Series event at Dover. Before the one-quarter mark of the event, one of the race’s biggest contenders, Kyle Larson, has already suffered a significant setback.

The accident started when Ross Chastain, who was running inside the top five, got into the back of Brennan Poole, driving the No. 15 for Rick Ware Racing, spinning him to the inside of the track in turn one.

However, as typically happens at Dover Motor Speedway, momentum brought the No. 15 Ford Mustang back up the track, and directly into the path of Kyle Larson, causing major damage to both Poole and Larson.

After the accident, Chastain stated on his radio that he didn’t mean to turn Poole around at the entrance to the first corner. However, the communications on the radio from Larson, imply he feels otherwise.

Brennan Poole was forced to retire from Monday’s postponed Wurth 400 at Dover, which will place him 33rd in the final rundown. However, Kyle Larson and Ross Chastain were able to continue in the race.

“Yeah, [Austin Dillon] was on the outside of me – he and I had been racing for position. Side-by-side, there’s not a whole lot of room, there’s nothing more I could do in the situation,” said Brennan Poole. “I haven’t seen the replay, but I felt like I just got run over. really for no reason, 80 laps into the race. Doesn’t make any sense to me. I guess that’s something he’s been known to do here recently. Probably needs to get his butt whooped.”
