Zane Smith Talladega crash GEICO 500 2023 Harrison Burton save
Zane Smith saw his race come to an end after a hard crash after Harrison Burton was turned in front of the field on Lap 142 of the GEICO 500 at Talladega.

It had been a pretty orderly GEICO 500 at Talladega Superspeedway, aside from a couple of incidents heading to pit road early in the event, but on Lap 142 Harrison Burton got a shove from Noah Gragson going into Turn 3.

The contact from Gragson sent Burton turning sideways and it looked like it would probably be the end of Burton’s day.

However, Burton was able to make an incredible save.

As Burton collected his car, Joey Logano made contact with Zane Smith, which sent Smith into Austin Dillon. Dillon went spinning through the grass, and Smith went hard into the outside wall, and Austin Hill made slight contact with Smith.

Here is a video of the carnage on lap 142:

Burton was able to rejoin the race without incident, as did Austin Hill. Dillon and Smith saw their days come to a crashing end.
