Johnny Sauter, the 2016 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series champion, will pilot the No. 04 Roper Racing Team Ford F-150 during the 2023 season. The team made the announcement in the form of a Tweet on Wednesday evening.

The Tweet from Roper Racing stated, “BREAKING NEWS! Johnny Sauter, former NASCAR Truck Series Champion, will be driving for the Roper Racing #04 @Carquest Ford F-150 Craftsman Truck Team!”

Accompanying the tweet was a photo of Sauter wearing a Roper Racing Carquest firesuit:

While the Tweet wasn’t filled with much in the way of concrete info, it is believed that Sauter will slide behind the wheel in the next NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series event, which will take place at Kansas Speedway on May 6th.

TobyChristie.com has attempted to reach a Roper Racing representative for clarification on the details of Sauter’s deal with the team, but an answer has not been obtained at the time of publishing. If a response is given, this story will be updated.

While 19-year-old Kaden Honeycutt mightily impressed with strong performances in his short time with the team, the team explained to a Twitter user following the announcement that its deal with Honeycutt was only for the opening six races of the 2023 season.

Sauter, who has 24-career victories in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series, ran six races a season ago and scored a pair of top-five finishes in his limited starts.

It is unknown how many races Sauter will pilot the No. 04 truck at this time.
