Mother Nature has not been kind to NASCAR lately. That trend continued at Bristol Motor Speedway, when the sanctioning body announced just after 10:00 AM ET that all on-track activity for Friday, April 7 would be canceled.

On the docket for Friday was a pair of practice sessions for both the NASCAR Cup Series and NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series, as they return to the dirt-covered surface at Bristol Motor Speedway for a third time.

According to NASCAR, there will be an updated schedule of events released later in the afternoon on Friday.

The NASCAR Cup Series and NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series are still scheduled to have their heat races take place on Saturday, with Friday’s complete washout having no impact on those scheduled events.

Without practice for the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series, should the heat races be canceled, the composition of the field will be altered, as there will be no practice speeds to allow a pair of drivers to lock into the field.

Should Saturday’s NASCAR Truck Series heat races he axed, Norm Benning, Josh Reaume, Andrew Gordon, Jessica Friesen, and Joey Logano would be the five drivers that would fail to qualify for the Weather Guard Truck Race on Dirt.

However, with only 37 entries for Sunday’s Food City Dirt Race, there will be no drivers and teams sent home early, no matter the weather forecast for Saturday. Qualifying heats for the NASCAR Cup Series event, are also scheduled to take place on Saturday.
