On Thursday, Dale Earnhardt, Jr. announced a multi-year contract extension with SunDrop, which will see the company serve as the primary sponsor of a single Late Model race for the NASCAR Xfinity Series team owner in 2023 and 2024.

On Thursday, Dale Earnhardt, Jr. and JR Motorsports announced a multi-year partnership with SunDrop, which will see the Keurig Dr. Pepper-owned company serve as a primary partner for a single Late Model event in 2023 and 2024.

The NASCAR Xfinity Series team owner will compete in the CARS Late Model Tour event at North Wilkesboro Speedway as part of the new sponsorship agreement, joining Carson Kvapil as a teammate in the JR Motorsports stable.

“We’re excited to team back up with Sun Drop,” said Earnhardt Jr. “Sun Drop has been a part of my life since I was a kid. It’s special to be able to work with a company that is authentic to who I am. I appreciate all Sun Drop has done for me over the years and for them hearing me out last year when I wanted to bring that car back to North Wilkesboro.”

Earnhardt, who swept the NASCAR Most Popular Driver award for much of his NASCAR Cup Series career, is a member of the new ownership group for the CARS Late Model Tour, which was announced in January.

The relationship between Sun Drop and the Earnhardt family dates back to the late 1980s and marked a relationship that quickly became a fan-favorite partnership, which coupled the Earnhardts with Sun Drop’s popularity in the South East.

That initial partnership also included sponsorship for Earnhardt, Jr.’s Late Model stock car in 1994.

In addition to serving as a primary sponsor for Dale Earnhardt, Jr. in the CARS Late Model Tour event at North Wilkesboro, the company will also be featured as an associate partner on Carson Kvapil’s No. 8 Chevrolet, as the driver looks to notch his second straight CARS Tour title.

The CARS Late Model Tour event will begin the week-long festivities at the historic facility which will culminate with NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series and NASCAR Cup Series events on May 20 and May 21.

Earnhardt is the second member of the series’ new ownership group to announce intentions of competing in the series, as Kevin Harvick, 2014 NASCAR Cup Series champion, also announced he’d run a partial schedule in the series.
