William Byron Christopher Bell crash Richmond Toyota Owners 400 2023
William Byron, the dominant driver of the day, was sent spinning into the outside wall by Christopher Bell on a late-race restart at Richmond.

William Byron had another dominant day in Sunday’s NASCAR Cup Series Toyota Owners 400 at Richmond Raceway, but with 22 laps to go, Byron was sent for the spin cycle by Christopher Bell on a late-race restart.

Bell, who was in a four-wide battle, behind Byron with Ross Chastain, Kevin Harvick and Alex Bowman, moved slightly to the right heading into Turn 1, and made contact with Byron, which sent Byron spinning into the outside wall.

Here is a video of the incident between Byron and Bell:

For Byron, the incident will mark a disappointing end to what could have potentially been a third win of the 2023 NASCAR Cup Series season, but Byron once again led a race-high 117 laps in Sunday’s race at Richmond prior to the late-race crash.
