Parker Kligerman had the taste of a first victory in the NASCAR Xfinity Series within his grasp, but saw it all fizzle away exiting the final corner, as he got hooked by Daniel Hemric, and spun in front of the entire pack.

We waited a long time for the finish of Saturday’s NASCAR Xfinity Series event at Atlanta Motor Speedway, but one thing is for sure, it didn’t disappoint.

On the final lap of the second part of a Saturday doubleheader at the newly-reconfigured 1.5-mile facility, Parker Kligerman made a move to the outside of Austin Hill to attempt and snatch his first career victory in the Xfinity Series.

However, while hanging on the outside at the exit of turn four, Kligerman was tagged in the left-rear by Daniel Hemric, sending the Big Machine Racing entry into the right side of Hill’s No. 21 Chevrolet Camaro.

In hindsight, the whole field is probably very thankful that Hill was able to keep his car pointed in the proper direction, but would have wished the same for Kligerman, as additional contact spun the No. 48 in front of the field.

Riley Herbst, who recorded a finish inside the top five for the second straight week, sustained some damage in the accident, as did Justin Haley and Brennan Poole.

Here’s the video of the final half-lap of action, which saw lots of contact, and the hopes for a first career victory slip out of reach for Parker Kligerman. However, a top-five finish will still suffice for the Big Machine Racing team.
