The No. 46 G2G Racing team has acquired owner points by way of an owner point transfer from the No. 34 Reaume Brothers Racing entry. NASCAR confirmed the points transfer to TobyChristie.com on Wednesday.

The point swap will give the No. 46 team a little extra breathing room points-wise as it attempts to qualify for the event at Atlanta Motor Speedway in a couple of weeks.

“As far as the points moving forward, it’s super beneficial to us because it’s 25th in points from last season, so it pretty much locks us in for Atlanta,” Tim Viens, G2G Racing’s co-owner, explained to TobyChristie.com following confirmation of the point transfer.

G2G Racing, which saw its No. 46 truck fail to qualify at Daytona International Speedway, despite showing great speed in practice with Norm Benning piloting the Toyota Tundra, is locked into the show this weekend at Las Vegas Motor Speedway by virtue of 35 trucks being on the entry list. The NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series race field can max out at 36 trucks.

2022 owner points are used in the event of qualifying rainouts and to determine provisionals through the opening three events of the NASCAR Truck Series season.

But the swap not only gives the No. 46 team the 2022 owner points from the No. 34 team, it also gives the organization the points scored by the No. 34 team in the season-opening race at Daytona this year as well.

“Moving forward, it gives us the points from Daytona because the 46 missed the race with Norm Benning. So, now we have those points from Daytona and the first three [races] are critical moving forward,” Viens said.

G2G Racing, which doesn’t have a full-time driver locked into the seat of it’s truck, relies on a rotating cast of characters to pilot its trucks throughout the season. With no testing, and very limited practice time in the series these days, the points cushion will add some comfort to G2G’s drivers this season when it comes to making the races.

“This year, we’re still going to be a development program, where we’ll have multiple drivers driving this year. It’s super beneficial to us to come out strong having the first three races locked in, have those points moving forward going into COTA. It gives these funded drivers looking to do one or two races some confidence,” Viens said.
