UPDATE: Monday, December 12, 2022 at 8:15 PM ET —

On Monday night’s edition of SiriusXM NASCAR Radio’s Late Shift, Stewart Friesen announced that the No. 62 truck will return for Halmar Friesen Racing in 2023.

Friesen says as of now the plan is that his wife Jessica will run the Bristol dirt race in the truck, and they are trying to bring Layne Riggs back. Friesen says they want to get Riggs as many races as possible if they can get him solidified for 2023.

Friesen did explain that the team is preparing in case Riggs is able to secure funding for the full season. If Riggs can find the funding, Friesen says that they will be able to accommodate him with the No. 62 truck.

Friesen also says his No. 52 team will have a brand new sponsor that they’ll announce after the new year, and the team, which had been running under an alliance with Kyle Busch Motorsports prior to this season, just completed building their first in-house NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series chassis.

ORIGINAL STORY: Monday, December 12, 2022 at 1:05 PM ET —

Stewart Friesen, a three-time NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series race winner, will return along with the No. 52 Halmar Friesen Racing team to the series full-time for the 2023 season.

Friesen officially announced that he and his team would be back for the 2023 season via a tweet on Sunday evening, which he accompanied with the hashtag #staytuned.

Another tweet from December 6th stated that the team would continue running Toyota Tundras in the upcoming season.

The 39-year-old driver is scheduled to talk more about his plans for the 2023 season on SiriusXM NASCAR Radio at 8:15 PM ET on Monday.

HFR fielded a second truck part-time during the 2022 season with Friesen’s wife Jessica Friesen, Truck Series legend Todd Bodine and up-and-comer Layne Riggs behind the wheel.

Friesen has not tipped his hand on if the second truck will continue in 2023, but perhaps that will be a topic of his SiriusXM interview.

In 2022, Friesen recorded one of his best seasons to date, as he scored his third-career victory in a stirring performance at Texas Motor Speedway. Friesen led 60 laps in that winning effort.

The native of Canada also racked up a total of nine top-five finishes and 13 top-10 finishes (both his highest totals since 2019). Friesen finished the season sixth in the championship standings.
