Scott Dixon led the way in the final practice session of the weekend ahead of the Big Machine Music City Grand Prix.

The six-time NTT IndyCar Series champion, who starts 14th in this afternoon’s 80-lap contest, put down a flying lap of 1m15.6065s (99.993 mph) around the 2.1-mile, 11-turn Nashville street circuit to elevate the No. 9 Chip Ganassi Racing Honda to the top of the leaderboard.

Colton Herta, piloting the No. 26 Andretti Autosport Honda, ended up second by a slim 0.710s.

Pole-sitter Scott McLaughlin put the No. 3 Team Penske Chevrolet third, ahead of AJ Foyt Racing rookie Kyle Kirkwood in fourth. Reigning IndyCar champion Alex Palou’s No. 10 Chip Ganassi Racing Honda was fifth.

There were a couple of incidents in the session, beginning with Dalton Kellett after his No. 4 AJ Foyt Racing Chevrolet made contact with the Turn 9 tire barrier roughly 15 minutes into the session, which brought out a brief red flag.

Rookie David Malukas ended the session with a local yellow after his No. 18 Dale Coyne Racing with HMD Motorsports Honda stalled on track.
