Chris Buescher’s right rear wheel flew off his No. 17 car in the middle of a green flag pit sequence with under 50 laps left in the NASCAR Cup race at Nashville.

This. Changes. Everything.

During a green flag pit sequence with under 50 laps to go in Sunday’s NASCAR Cup Series Ally 400 at Nashville Superspeedway, Chris Buescher’s No. 17 Fastenal Ford Mustang lost it’s right rear wheel.

As Buescher’s wheel went flying across the start finish line, without a car attached and Buescher’s car rained sparks, the caution came out. Somehow, Buescher didn’t crash the car.

Here is the incident for Buescher as it happened:

While Buescher didn’t crash the car, he will more than likely be without crew chief Scott Graves, his jackman Matthew Wilps and rear tire changer Seth Gajdorus for the next four NASCAR Cup Series races.

Buescher’s misfortune was huge fortune for Kurt Busch, Joey Logano, Ryan Blaney, Austin Dillon, Michael McDowell, Brad Keselowski, Cole Custer, Daniel Suarez, Ricky Stenhouse Jr., and Austin Cindric who were the top-10 scored cars that had yet to make their pitstops.

Meanwhile, a lot of the drivers, who had been among the fastest on the night, were trapped a lap down, or had to take a wave around.

Kyle Busch, Chase Elliott, Denny Hamlin, Martin Truex Jr., Ross Chastain and Kevin Harvick were able to work onto the lead lap before the caution flew and assumed the top-six spots on the ensuing restart.
