Ben Rhodes, the dirt racing expert? It appears so as the winner of April’s NASCAR Camping World Truck Series Bristol Dirt Race was the fastest truck in opening practice for Saturday’s Clean Harbors 150 at Knoxville Raceway.

Rhodes, who did go for a spin at one point in the session, turned a quick time of 23.033 sec., which equates to a 74.599 mph lap around the half-mile dirt track nestled in the Marion Country Fairgrounds in Knoxville, Iowa.

The defending Truck Series champion, Rhodes was nearly four-tenths of a second faster than Stewart Friesen.

Friesen turned a fast lap of 23.407 sec. which was good enough for runner-up in the session.

Carson Hocevar, who broke his tibia a couple of weeks ago at WWT Raceway at Gateway, turned the third-fastest lap of practice. Ty Majeski and Matt Crafton rounded out the top-five fastest in the session.

Brett Moffitt, John Hunter Nemechek, Kraus, Tanner Gray and Todd Gilliland slotted in sixth through 10th.

Notable performances in the session include dirt ringers Buddy Kofoid (13th), Tyler Carpenter (17th) and Dylan Westbrook (20th).
