Corey LaJoie suffered an early issue in NASCAR Cup Series practice from Charlotte Motor Speedway, heavily damaging his No. 7 Spire Motorsports Chevrolet.

Sunday’s Coca-Cola 600 was already going to be a long night, but it may have gotten even longer for Corey LaJoie and Spire Motorsports after a crash early in practice at Charlotte.

In a post-accident interview with Jamie Little, Corey LaJoie accredited the accident to the Spire Motorsports entry having a flat left-rear tire, which caused him to violently snap around in turn two.

“It definitely sucked,” LaJoie told PRN. “Top of the board in terms of hardest hits I’ve had. We had a left rear go down, not sure how low we had it, but we had a left rear go down. Not the exact place you want to be.”

At this time, no determination has been made on whether the No. 7 will be going to a backup car for Sunday’s event, or if they’ll attempt to fix it.

LaJoie had only run four laps around the 1.5-mile facility before his left-rear tire let go.
