How bad have you got it?

One fan at Charlotte Motor Speedway on Saturday afternoon got a little too into the spirit of an old NASCAR advertising campaign as they decided to snag a wheel and tire from the NASCAR Cup Series garage.

The Cup Series garage is where the Goodyear hauler and tent are housed, where Goodyear mounts the tires for all of the NASCAR sanctioned series that run during a race weekend.

A representative from Goodyear confirmed the incident to TobyChristie.com.

The Goodyear representative said, “They didn’t get very far. It’s kind of hard to take something like that and not get caught.”

According to Brandonbilt Motorsports’ Collin Fern, in a response on Twitter, his No. 68 team had a wheel and tire stolen from their team in Las Vegas, earlier this season. In that instance, the fan was not found and the team was out a wheel and tire.

No further information was given from Goodyear in relation to the fan or what the ultimate penalty was for attempting to steal a NASCAR wheel and tire. And TobyChristie.com has reached out to a Speedway Motorsports representative at Charlotte Motor Speedway, but they were unable to give an update at this time as well.

Any updates will be added to this story as they become available.
