Jimmie Johnson has confirmed a facture in his right hand in the latest update via social media on Saturday morning.

The 46-year-old California native was in a splint on Friday evening as a result of a crash during opening practice for the Acura Grand Prix of Long Beach. The incident happened with roughly 16 minutes remaining in the session when Johnson hopped the inside curb on the entry into Turn 5, with the momentum propelling him into the outside tire barrier at corner exit.

In the update on Saturday, Johnson revealed the team has made a carbon fiber piece to support the area, where he will attempt to run in second practice before making a decision regarding the rest of the race weekend. Additionally, he shared that IndyCar has approved him for participation for the this morning’s session.
