Video: Daniel Suarez, Stage One Winner, Gets Turned by Corey LaJoie on Restart at COTA

Daniel Suarez and Trackhouse Racing look to have brought speed to Circuit of The Americas in Austin, Texas, winning the race’s first stage in dominant fashion, after staying out for the first 15 laps of the event, despite other drivers pulling an alternate strategy.

This strategy, which earned him a playoff point, put him directly in the middle of the mayhem heading down to turn one, as cars fanned out four and five-wide into the tight left-hand corner.

Ultimately, it was contact from Corey LaJoie that sent Suarez’s No. 99 spinning in turn one, while also simultaneously cutting down his left-rear tire, requiring him to limp back to pit road.

Ryan Pistana, stationed in turn one at Circuit of The Americas, caught a video of the incident.
