Bubba Wallace was listed on the preliminary entry list for this weekend’s NASCAR Xfinity Series Pit Boss 250 at Circuit of the Americas as the driver of the No. 18 Joe Gibbs Racing Toyota Supra. On Tuesday, 23XI Racing confirmed that Wallace will run two NXS races for JGR in 2022.

In addition to this weekend’s event at COTA, Wallace will also drive the No. 18 Joe Gibbs Racing entry in the NASCAR Xfinity Series event at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Road Course on July 30th.

Dr. Pepper will serve as the primary sponsor for the effort in COTA, while a sponsor will be named for Wallace’s JGR start at the Indy Road Course at a later date.

For Wallace, this is a reunion of sorts, as he drove for JGR in the Xfinity Series in six races between 2012 and 2014. Wallace also drove for Kyle Busch Motorsports in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series.

“I’m looking forward to partnering back up with Joe Gibbs Racing in the Xfinity Series after making my first career start in NASCAR with them about 10 years ago,” said Wallace in a team release. “The No. 18 Toyota GR Supra team is always strong and I’m excited to be competing with them at COTA and Indianapolis. Thanks to the team at 23XI and Toyota for helping to make this happen and thanks to Dr Pepper for coming on board for the race at COTA.”

The two starts will give Wallace the chance to gain more experience on two of the newer road courses on the NASCAR Cup Series schedule, on the same weekend that the NASCAR Cup Series is in action at the same tracks.
