Video: David Starr Sent on Track Early in Qualifying, Spins and Impedes Hezemans Lap

In a bizarre incident in Xfinity Series qualifying at Phoenix, David Starr spun in front of Loris Hezemans. Screengrab FS1 broadcast.

Well, there’s something you don’t see every day. In single car NASCAR Xfinity Series qualifying at Phoenix Raceway on Saturday, there were two cars on track at once as David Starr was sent on track too early.

The driver of the No. 08 was still getting up to speed, when he lost control of his car and spun directly in front of Loris Hezemans, who was trying to record his timed lap.

Starr spinning caused Hezemans to slow down to avoid the No. 08 car, which stalled his qualifying lap. Starr also flat spotted his tires before getting a chance to record a qualifying lap.

Both Starr and Hezemans were allowed to re-rack for another qualifying attempt later in the session. Starr was able to lock his way into the field, while Hezemans was unable to turn a lap fast enough to lock into the show.
