Joey Hand will make his NASCAR debut in a Stewart-Haas Racing prepared No. 52 Rick Ware Racing entry.

Road racing sportscar star Joey Hand will make his NASCAR Cup Series debut this weekend in the No. 52 Rick Ware Racing entry in the Bank of America Roval 400 at the Charlotte Motor Speedway Roval.

Although the entry will be under the Rick Ware Racing banner, a RWR team representative confirmed to TobyChristie.com that the No. 52 Ford Mustang will be a machine prepared by Stewart-Haas Racing.

That being said, Hand could be an interesting driver to keep an eye on in Sunday’s race.

Hand will bring primary sponsorship from Boom! Mobile and he’ll also have associate sponsorship from Ford Performance.

Over the course of his incredible career, the 42-year old has won the Rolex 24 Hours at Daytona (2011), the 12 Hours of Sebring (2012) and the 24 Hours of Le Mans (2016).

Hand has recorded six victories and 21 podium finishes in 56 starts in the IMSA Weather Tech SportsCar Championship Series and he was the American Le Mans Series champion back in 2011, winning three races.

The California-native has never wheeled a stock car in an official race, but he is ready for the shot at taming the wild stock cars at one of the NASCAR Cup Series’ most unpredictable tracks — the Charlotte Roval.

Josh Bilicki, who has driven the entire 2021 NASCAR Cup Series campaign in the No. 52 Rick Ware Racing entry, will move to the team’s No. 15 car for this weekend’s race.
