Before he takes to the high banks of the Atlanta Motor Speedway, Michael Annett will sling some dirt when the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series visits Knoxville this week.

Confirming the news Monday evening, Young’s Motorsports shared that 35-year-old Xfinity Series regular will join the team, piloting the No. 02 Silverado backed by longtime partner TMC Transportation.

“It’s been my dream to race at Knoxville ever since I can remember, I can’t thank Tyler (Young, team principal) and Young’s Motorsports enough for giving me the opportunity,” Annett remarked in a media release.

It’ll be Annett’s first Truck Series start since 2014 when he slung some dirt at Eldora in the Bob Newberry owned No. 14 Silverado.

The entry at Knoxville is not only a dream opportunity for Annett, but the venue holds a special meaning to TMC. The late Harrold Annett, who served as chairman of the company, raced at the iconic dirt track during the 70’s, and 80’s on a weekly basis. The No. 02 will carry a special decal on the decklid honoring the late Annett’s induction into the Knoxville Raceway Hall of Fame in 2007.

Young’s plans to bring three entries for what is expected to be a memorable evening in Knoxville.

“Michael is a huge addition to the Young’s Motorsports team this weekend at Knoxville,” said team principal Tyler Young. “We believe he has the capabilities of delivering our organization another top-10 finish this season in such a prestigious race which also holds a lot of sentimental value to not only himself but the entire Annett and TMC Transportation family.”

Fans can see Annett take to the track at Knoxville on Friday, July 9th at 6:00 p.m. EST on FOX Sports 1, and the FOX Sports app.
