In the closing moments of Friday Afternoon’s NASCAR Camping World Truck Series practice session at Charlotte Motor Speedway, Austin Hill shot his No. 16 United Rentals Toyota Tundra to the top of the speed charts, with a lap time of 30.391 seconds | 177.684 mph.

The 55-minute practice session – originally scheduled to be 50 minutes in length — featured a myriad of on-track incidents, many of which sent teams scrambling to unload backup trucks in time for qualifying.

John Hunter Nemechek was second-fastest in the session, despite having an extremely close call which caused the No. 4 Mobil 1 Toyota Tundra to slide into the outside wall in the opening portion of the session.

Carson Hocevar, Sheldon Creed and Tanner Gray rounded out the top-five on the speed charts at the conclusion of the session, with Chandler Smith, Stewart Friesen, Matt Crafton, Christian Eckes and Derek Kraus rounding out the top-10.

Near the conclusion of Friday’s practice session, Drew Dollar’s No. 51 Sunbelt Rentals Toyota Tundra broke loose in turn two, sending the young driver into the outside wall in turn two. Behind him, Danny Bohn – driving the No. 30 for On Point Motorsports — also ran into some trouble, collecting the outside wall and causing slight damage to his vehicle.

Timothy Peters, Akinori Ogata and CJ McLaughlin were also involved in accidents throughout the session, which was slowed a total of seven times – six times for on-track incidents.

McGee, who landed a last-minute sponsorship deal with Barstool Sports for Friday Night’s event, backed it into the turn two wall in the closing minutes of the session. At this time, it is unknown if Jordan Anderson Racing has a backup truck prepared. In a similar instance at Bristol, JR Heffner was forced to withdraw from the event due to not having a backup.

TobyChristie.com has since contacted McGee to see what the Jordan Anderson Racing’s course of action will be, in regards to unloading a backup if one is available, but is still currently awaiting a response.
