The future of NASCAR will finally be revealed, and fans will not have to wait much longer.

NASCAR has confirmed that on May 5th in Charlotte, North Carolina, the sport, and its manufacturers will reveal the 2022 lineup for the highly-anticipated Next Gen cars.

No specific location in Charlotte was given, however, it is likely that the reveal will take place at the NASCAR Hall Of Fame, or the NASCAR R&D Center. The reveal will be invite-only for media members, but the event will be live-streamed with details to be provided the week of the reveal.

Chevrolet, Ford, and Toyota tested their own models of the Next Gen cars just last week at Martinsville with Alex Bowman, David Ragan, and Drew Herring. The test was closed off to media, and fans.

Originally scheduled to debut in the 2020 Daytona 500 before the COVID-19 pandemic, NASCAR confirmed in February that the development stage of the car was complete, with more testing set to take place throughout the 2021 season, as well as following the season.

Richard Childress Racing’s Tyler Reddick was on hand for a Goodyear tire test this week in Darlington. Testing is expected to continue with Bristol, Texas, and Charlotte Roval among the confirmed stops for the car in 2021.

TobyChristie.com will have continuing coverage of Next Gen leading up to its grand reveal in early May.
