On Saturday Afternoon, SS Greenlight Racing and Rick Ware Racing announced the extension of their partnership in the NASCAR Xfinity Series for the 2021 season, which will see the organization’s No. 08 be rebranded into the No. 17.

The two organizations originally formed the partnership early last season, following Ray Black Jr’s departure from SS Greenlight Racing after five events. The partnership – run through the No. 07 Chevrolet Camaro — resulted in a total of four top-10s and season-high second-place finish at Daytona International Speedway, with Gray Gaulding behind the wheel.

The eight different drivers that took turns behind the wheel of the No. 07, put the entry 18th in 2020 NASCAR Xfinity Series Owner Point Standings, points which will be utilized by Joe Graf Jr. and the No. 07 team in 2021.

“We are excited to continue this alliance with Rick Ware Racing. Rick [Ware] was able to step in last year at a time when we found ourselves at a crossroads. and it proved to be a very good thing for both [SS] Greenlight, Rick Ware Racing and all the drivers and team members involved,” said SS Greenlight Racing owner Bobby Dotter. “The way things played out last season certainly made this a very easy decision as we look to the 2021 season and beyond. While the No. 08 holds a very special place in my family’s history in racing, we are excited to write a new chapter with the No. 17.”

Carson Ware, JJ Yeley, Garrett Smithley, RC Enerson, Jade Buford, David Starr, Gray Gaulding and Joey Gase all took turns behind the wheel of the No. 07 in 2020. No driver announcements for the No. 17 have been made at this time.

“We had a couple options for Rick Ware Racing’s involvement in the Xfinity Series in 2021, but at the end of the day, it made sense to further our relationship with Bobby [Dotter] and the team at SS Greenlight Racing.” added Rick Ware. “The personnel that Bobby put into place proved to be a hardworking group, who helped our drivers put their best foot forward and have a good bit of success, coming close to parking our car in Victory Lane on a couple of different occasions.”

The 2021 NASCAR Xfinity Series campaign will begin with the Beef. It’s What’s for Dinner. 300 at Daytona International Speedway on Saturday, February 13th, 2021. Joe Graf Jr will pilot the organization’s No. 07, while a driver announcement for the No. 17 has yet to be made.
