Kaz Grala Signs Multi-Race Cup Deal with Kaulig Racing; Attempting 2021 DAYTONA 500

Kaz Grala will attempt to qualify for the 2021 edition of the DAYTONA 500 on February 14th, as the beginning of a multi-race NASCAR Cup Series schedule with Kaulig Racing in the No. 16 Chevrolet Camaro.

The 22-year-old has one prior start in the NASCAR Cup Series, scoring a seventh-place finish for Richard Childress Racing at Daytona’s Road Course, after Austin Dillon tested positive for COVID-19.

“This is a huge opportunity for me both personally and professionally,” said Grala. “I’ve grown up dreaming of reaching the NASCAR Cup Series, so it will be really special to get more chances to race against my heroes, with Kaulig Racing being the perfect team to take that next step with. I can’t thank Matt Kaulig and Chris Rice enough for trusting me in their Cup program, as well as RCR for helping shape my career the past couple seasons. I have already worked with many of the Kaulig team members before, so hopefully that will help us hit the ground running next month. Bring on the DAYTONA 500!”

Grala will run multiple races for Kaulig Racing at NASCAR’s top-level in 2021, including select road courses and superspeedway events.

In 32 NASCAR Xfinity Series starts, Grala has recorded four top-fives and nine top-10s, including back-to-back top-five finishes for Richard Childress Racing at Road America.

“We’re super excited to have Kaz join our team in 2021, and we can’t wait to get started with him at Daytona,” said Chris Rice, President of Kaulig Racing. “He has had some great success in different series and layouts at Daytona, so we think he will be a great addition to our team beginning with the Daytona 500.”

Kaulig Racing’s No. 16 will have to qualify its way into the 63rd running of the DAYTONA 500, as the organization is fielding an open entry in 2021. Information regarding additional events and sponsorships, will be forthcoming.
